Our process

So how does EMCI Register certify a recreational craft?

We follow ISO 17065 in our certification process and use a collection of online tools to ensure we are as efficient as possible when certifying your craft(s). Our certification process always follows a set interface but naturally, can always be tailored to specific needs and requirements. Step 1

Fill in the application form

Every certification process starts with the filling in of the application form. Here we require you to fill in some basic information on your recreational craft or component. The form is completely online and can be found using the above link.

Step 2

Evaluation by EMCI Register

Once we have recieved your application form, we will start processing it. EMCI Register the correct staff to determine the plan for certification. This plan will include the quote for the required costs and when any evaluations will take place. The certification plan will be setup in conjunction with you and is obligation free. If you agree with the certification plan, we will sign a contract with you and start the certification process.

Step 3

Lead auditor inspection

A crucial part of the certificaiton process is that the lead auditor will inspect your products technical file. This may include one or multiple site visits in which the lead auditor will physically visit the recreational craft on location. The lead auditor will also perform calculations and, if required, perform practical tests. These actions are undertaken to ensure your product meets the requirements.

Step 4

Head of certification review

After the lead auditor has completed his/her work, he/she will create a report and submit it to an independent third party - the head of certification. The head of certification will review the certification file and ensure that the EMCI Register certification process was correctly followed. Without approval certfication cannot be granted.

Step 5

Issuing of certificates

Once the head of certification has completed the review, the EMCI Register board will decide to issue a certficate. This will be done digitally. Once the certificate is issued the product is certified under CE. Then, it can be introduced into the European market.
